BUSINESS AS USUAL = DEATH Action

On Monday morning rebels blocked four lanes of traffic on the intersection of Grote Street and King William St during morning rush hour. Dressed in business attire and chained together they held the space until removed by police with bolt cutters.
They were joined by rebels dressed as health care workers who spray chalked body outlines and messages of ‘Climate Death’. Themed music was performed by The Dead Remedies who also dropped some truths on the mic.
Five rebels were removed from the road by police and fined. After their removal rebels performed traffic swarms in Tarntanyangga (Victoria Square).
Our shared future is chained to business as usual. We must unshackle ourselves from this broken system and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.

Last weekend rebels from the South Coast affinity group held a banner drop on Ring Road in Victor Harbor. XRSA spokesperson Fran Wanders told the local newspaper:
“We are parents, grandparents, siblings and friends, and we are deeply concerned about the condition of the planet that our future generations will inherit,” Ms Wanders said.
“We see the declining ecological state of the planet and the overwhelming scientific consensus on this, and we intend to fight to ensure that a healthy, liveable planet exists for future generations.”
No to Driver’s Month – Bicycle Swarm

When it comes to climate action Adelaide City Council has chucked a uey.
In what “might be the most stupid decision in the city council’s history” they’re holding “Driver’s Month” this November. Encouraging motorists into the city through reduced parking and daily $100 gift vouchers to those who park with their (1.4 stars) mobile app.
In response we’re holding a slow paced bicycle swarm to symbolise how ACC are moving to the back of the pack on climate action. The swarm will tour the sites of “Driver’s Month” with visits to Town Hall and several UPark Car Parks ending with a picnic by the Adelaide Himeji Japanese Garden on South Terrace.
Meet by the Tesla Supercharger next to the Adelaide Central Bus Station at 85 Franklin St.
Invite your cycling friends for what will be some fun, low risk civil disobedience. You’re welcome to bring some lunch and join us for a picnic afterwards at Wita Wirra/Peppermint Park (Park 18).
We ask that you please bring helmets, sun protection, water, your own hand sanitiser and a face mask (if you wish to wear one).

Online Nonviolence Training for Civil Disobedience
Saturday, November 21st at 1:30 PM – 3:15 PM
Online
RSVP on Action Network
This training will prepare you for non-violent participation in civil disobedience. You will leave with an understanding of why non-violence is vital to our civil disobedience actions, how it is achieved and what further steps you need to take to be ready to act.
Science tells us we need immediate, unprecedented action to respond to climate change. Australian government policies are literally adding fuel to the fires the climate crisis is driving in this country and across the world. It is up to Extinction Rebellion to take peaceful, direct action to get them to act now.
Non-violent civil disobedience has a long history of success in achieving large scale change, from Jabiluka to the Indian Independence Movement and the Civil Rights Movement.
- Understand how non-violent civil disobedience fits into XR’s strategic vision
- Learn the skills needed to practise and promote nonviolence during actions
- Address your fears or concerns about participating in actions
- Explore what kind of arrestable and non- arrestable action roles best suit you
- Identify your next step towards taking action.
